PodRide News & Indiegogo Update #29

Nov 12, 2020

PodRide is evolving!

It’s been quite some time since our last update. We are continuing to develop PodRide and are working towards the next and hopefully last round of prototyping.

The big news..

Due to very popular demand, PodRide will be available as a two seater from day one. It will come standard with one seat, with the option of purchasing a second seat if you intend to carry a passenger. The position of both seats are adjustable within the cabin, and you can adjust the recline angle too.

The other news is that we had Christophe join our team six months ago. Christophe is an industrial designer in France that has designed beautiful and stylish products for companies such as Rossignol, Decathlon, Puma and other industry leading brands.

Our brief to Christophe was to take PodRide’s quirky design and improve the visual appearance and appeal, whilst still remaining true to the original PodRide design.

We believe Christophe has delivered in spades! PodRide is more attractive than ever, but still remains PodRide. It now looks more “grown up” and refined, but still lightweight, friendly and fun.

The design has evolved and is still being refined further. Please note: this is not the final design, but as you can see the styling has improved greatly on the original prototype.

One of the significant changes that we’ve made to the design is to use a thermoformed material in the lower section to simplify construction and greatly improve visual appeal. Using this material also solves one of the biggest technical challenges we had – weather sealing between the lower and upper body.

Please let us know what you think of the new and improved look. Add your feedback, thoughts and ideas in the comments section of our subscription form

We anticipate taking pre-orders in around 6 months time. More details will be advised as we get closer to the date.

We want to thank you for your continued support and patience. It has been a long, slow and demanding journey, and we are not at the finish line yet. There are still a number of challenges for us to resolve, and raising investment is one of those issues.
Please note: we do not have a 6 spoked mag wheel, this was simply a design exercise. PodRide will have the 5 spoked wheels.

Dear PodRide Supporter, Time for another update on PodRide’s development. We’re happy to report that we’re making good progress. In April we mentioned that we had brought on a new team member in Mike Singleton whose mandate was to reduce the number of components, complexity, cost and weight of PodRide. We also mentioned that he […]

Dear PodRide Supporter, Time for another update on PodRide’s development. In our last update we mentioned that we were not satisfied with the high number of custom parts and the associated complexity in the PodRide design. The design had too many custom components, which translates to higher production costs, more manufacturing and assembly issues, a […]
